PDX Parking Deck Joint System
Parking structure joints call for a tough system that can withstand excessive horizontal and vertical movement, has good weatherability and is easy to install with a short downtime and long service life. These requirements are met by the Dow Corning®/ SSI PDX Parking Deck Joint System. The PDX Parking Deck Joint System is a revolutionary concept in expansion joint construction and rehabilitation, combining a tough, wear resistant polymer for expansion joint nosing and a rapid curing, high movement silicone for joint sealing. The system, which is cold applied, is designed to provide a watertight, chemical-resistant seal to accommodate high traffic loads and remain pliable in cold and warm temperatures. Also the sealant will bond to itself. This is ideal for maintenance applications where only one traffic lane can be repaired/sealed at a time, but where a continuous repair is is required when adjacent lanes are eventually repaired.
The rapid-curing ability of the P.D.X. System makes it an excellent choice for parking decks, and other high-volume traffic areas that require short closure times. Non-rush hour installation time is possible, helping avoid traffic back-ups and costly overtime. These traffic areas can be opened shortly after the complete installation of the P.D.X.System.
The P.D.X. System is also a cost effective, easily repairable method for construction of expansion joints, at a fraction of the cost of conventional joint alternatives.
